Summer is not typically seen as an ideal time for cosmetic surgery procedures since most patients seek to improve their look before swimsuit season begins.  But there are several advantages to using the summer months for needed downtime after surgery.

Patients should consider the amount of downtime needed for their elected surgery before making a commitment. Most businesses tend to have their slowest periods in the summer months and educational professionals may choose their break for needed rest and recovery.

The Sandel- Duggal Center in Annapolis, MD offers cosmetic procedures for the face and body.  Recovery times will vary based on the individual and the procedure being performed.  Contact our office for a complimentary consultation.

Recovery For Facelift Surgery

Annapolis Facelift Before & After PhotoSince it is most difficult to hide the face after facelift surgery, patients tend to allow for two to three weeks of rest at home before returning to work and social functions.  Some swelling and bruising will occur during recovery with scars barely visible in skin creases.  Makeup can be applied during the healing process.  Additional procedures may be recommended to achieve the patient’s desired outcome.

Recovery for Abdominoplasty or “Tummy Tuck”

Abdominoplasty requires one of the longest recovery times in cosmetic surgery.  Four weeks is typically recommended for recovery.  Longer recovery periods are needed when long incisions are involved in the cosmetic procedure. Such procedures include breast lifts and reductions, and thigh, arm and body lifts.

Often, liposuction accompanies abdominoplasty.  A breast lift or breast augmentation may also be combined as part of a “mommy makeover” to help restore a patient’s body after childbirth.

Recovery for Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty) & Rhinoplasty

For eyelid surgery, patients can expect to be back to normal social activities in about a week.  Sutures will be removed at 5 days and will be pink in appearance accompanied by minimal bruising and swelling which dissipates in a few weeks.

For rhinoplasty patients, a splint is typical worn for the week following surgery.  At this time, most patients return to work and normal activities.  Mild swelling and bruising will decrease within the following three months.
